Nine Companies Face Lawsuits from Vaginal Mesh Attorneys

I was interested to hear about the recent FDA alert issued in regards to the dangers of the transvaginal placement of surgical mesh. While the vaginal mesh alert does not go as far as to recall a specific product or brand, it casts a veil over a wide array of products used to repair pelvic organ prolapse. The products are types of surgical mesh designed to be placed in the vaginal area to support pelvic muscles. Nine different companies make products such as these, and there are dozens of versions on the market. All approved by the controversial 501(k) FDA medical device approval process, transvaginal mesh, pelvic slings, vaginal mesh and other similar products were subject to very little safety testing before they came into common use by urogynecological surgeons. Now, thousands of women are suffering serious health problems related to these products and are engaging the services of a vaginal mesh attorney. If the FDA does in fact recall this vast network of products, there is no doubt that the companies that manufacture them will face a sea of lawsuits.
